| TONY MARKS is a Senior
Communications Associate at The Raben Group, where he helps clients
reach complex policy and advocacy goals by creating effective communications
strategies, drafting and placing op-eds, story pitching and developing materials for congressional outreach and special events.
Prior to joining The Raben Group, Mr. Marks served on Senator Edward
M. Kennedy’s staff for five years, first as a staff assistant
on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration
and later as assistant to the Legislative Director. His responsibilities
included researching legislation and editing and drafting memoranda,
remarks and correspondence consistent with the Senator’s broad
legislative priorities. He also monitored Senate proceedings for
the Legislative Director and served as the Senator's point person
for the John F. Kennedy Library’s 2006 Profile in Courage
Awards.
Before working for Senator Kennedy, Mr. Marks was a senior reporter
for a newspaper in Collierville, Tennessee, where he covered local
politics and planning and development issues in the region.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Marks has roots in both Virginia
and Tennessee and holds a degree in Journalism from the University
of Memphis.
