ELLIE COLLINSON is a Senior Associate at The Raben Group, possessing a wealth of experience in local and state-level civic engagement, organizational capacity building, and strategic projects on behalf of nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining The Raben Group, Ms. Collinson served as the State Legislative Programs Manager for People for the American Way where she provided legislative research and campaign expertise to state legislators and community-based organizations across the country. She also devised and implemented, in consultation with in state contract staff, a voter education and GOTV plan for identified progressive voters in Colorado during the 2006 general election.

Before working for People for the American Way, Ms. Collinson was the Executive Director of Citizens Project, a grassroots organization in Colorado Springs, CO dedicated to fostering a community valuing diversity, equality and religious freedom by upholding the separation of church and state and generating community dialogue between unusual civic partners. During her tenure at Citizens Project, the organization filed an IRS complaint letter against Focus on the Family for questionable voter education practices during the 2004 presidential election and grew its online activist network by 40% while monitoring local school board and city council actions.

In addition to her work experience, Ms. Collinson has served on the boards of the Pikes Peak Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Colorado Springs and the Colorado College Public Interest Fellowship Program where she contributed substantial fundraising and strategic planning expertise to emerging programs and organizations.

A native of Chappaqua, NY, Ms. Collinson graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado College with a degree in Asian Studies and is nearing completion of a Masters of Public Administration degree at the University of Colorado-Denver. During her time in school, Ms Collinson: co-founded Colorado College’s Queer-Straight Alliance, served on a statewide funding panel of students on behalf of the Gill Foundation, provided assistance to the assessment team of a federally-granted leadership program for local K-12 principals, and was campaign staff for a state representative’s successful re-election bid to a highly competitive seat of the Colorado House.
