The Raben Group’s policy breakfast with Mark Pocan, member of the Wisconsin State Assembly
We’d be delighted if you’d join us for The Raben Group’s policy breakfast with Mark Pocan, Member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.
Mark Pocan has long been a champion of progressive values in Wisconsin. As the chair of the Assembly’s State Finance Committee, he worked to improve access to health care by expanding coverage to all children across the state. As a minority member, he pushed the Compassionate Care for Rape Victims Act to passage in a chamber with a Republican majority. This year, he was the original author of Democratic legislation to restore collective bargaining to the state’s public employees.
As the first openly gay man elected to the Wisconsin State Legislature, Mr. Pocan introduced legislation that would have opened the state insurance pool to domestic partners of public employees. He also successfully shepherded to passage a provision that created a Domestic Partner Registry and afforded 43 new legal protections to same-sex couples that were previously only available to married couples. Mr. Pocan also helped ensure increased funding for HIV/AIDS resource organizations and the Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools.
This policy breakfast is not a fundraiser and space is limited, so please let us know immediately if you plan to attend by emailing Rosa Mendoza at rmendoza@rabengroup.com or calling 202-587-2870.
