Prudential is a financial services leader with approximately $693 billion in assets under management, with operations in the U.S., Asia, Europe and Latin America.
The Raben Group was retained by Prudential—one of Fortune magazine’s most admired companies in the world—to promote their progressive public policy agenda before Congress and the Obama Administration.
The company is well known as one of the largest life insurance companies in the world. What’s less well known – at least in Washington – is that Prudential is also a leading voice for consumer protection and better retirement solutions for those at the lower half of the income ladder. Our objective was to help harness and highlight the company’s unique substantive expertise to help Congress and the Obama Administration promote good public policy.
Working with Prudential’s Washington and Newark teams, we helped introduce their groundbreaking work to promote sound retirement policy with the best minds at some the nation’s leading think tanks. Prudential’s experts have served on panels with key legislative staff, administration officials and scholars to think through the most effective ways to help those who earn less save more. And, as a result of our combined efforts, Prudential has joined forces with the Aspen Institute Initiative on Financial Security to conduct comprehensive research and produce cutting-edge policy recommendations.
The company is also taking the lead in the fight against “stranger owned life insurance” transactions – a practice that is rife with abuse and has exposed vulnerable seniors to fraud. We have helped the company build a coalition of unlikely allies – industry leaders, consumer groups, retiree organizations members of Congress and other stakeholders – to combat this practice, and to encourage federal regulation of efforts to “securitize” these policies for profit.
